Wooden Floor Sanding

Looking to rejuvenate your old and worn wood floors? Look no further than our wooden floor sanding and refinishing service. Squirrel Property Services is a professional business dedicated to bringing your wood floors back to life.

With years of experience and state-of-the-art equipment, I can handle any floor sanding and refinishing project, big or small. I start with a thorough assessment of your floor to determine the best course of action, offer honest advice, and then produce for you a detailed quotation.  Your quotation will not contain only the price, but details of the sanding process and the products that are to be used.

Once the floor sanding is completed, we apply a primer coat, also known as a sealer, followed by at least 2 coats of water-based lacquer.  You can also choose to have the floor stained.  2K floor oil will also be one of the finishing options.  For brands of wood floor finishes I favour Pallmann, Loba, Blanchon and Rubio Monocoat.

The benefits of floor sanding go beyond just aesthetics. A newly restored wooden floor can increase the value of your home or business and improve indoor air quality.  I use low VOC finishes that can also include 100% solvent-free products which makes the air in your home safe for your family.  If you need help deciding on what type of floor finish to choose read our guide to choosing your wooden floor finish.  Sanding removes layers of the old finish, which can contain harmful chemicals.  The dustless sanding equipment used removes more than 96% of the dust from the air in your home.  The cleanup is minimal.

So why wait? Give your wood floors the love and attention they deserve with the wooden floor sanding service from Squirrel Property Services.

Don’t let your old and worn wood floors bring down the look of your home or business. Contact Steven at Squirrel Property Services today and see the difference a professional touch can make.

How Does Floor Sanding Work?

Most frequent questions and answers

Every floor sanding project is unique and priced accordingly. In general, floor sanding is more cost-effective than replacing your flooring with new materials.

This is because sanding allows you to restore and refinish your existing flooring, rather than starting from scratch. It’s always a good idea to get a personalized quote based on your specific needs and budget.

How much does it cost to sand a wooden floor?

The length of time it takes to sand and finish a wooden floor depends on several factors, including the size of the floor, the extent of the damage, and the finish you choose.

For example, a standard-sized front reception room with minimal damage may take about two days to complete.

However, a larger or more severely damaged floor may take longer. It’s always best to get a personalized estimate based on your specific project.

I use dustless equipment which extracts about 98% of the sanding dust, leaving very little mess for you to clean up.

My clients are always amazed at how little dust is produced compared to using a rental sander.

This means you can enjoy the benefits of a newly-sanded floor without the hassle of cleaning up a dust-filled space.

Below you can see the main two floor sanding machines that I use.  The belt sander extracts about 96% of the dust created.  The Spider planetary sanding machine collects nearly 100% of the floor sanding dust.

Which Wooden Floor Finish is Best For Me?

If your floor only has minor damage, such as scratches, it may be possible to restore it without sanding. For example, older oiled floors can often be cleaned and re-oiled, while most lacquered floors will need to be sanded.  Though some can be recoated with more lacquer.  Either using a screen and recoat system of using a bonding agent between the old lacquer and the new lacquer.

However, there are risks to applying additional lacquer to a floor, so it’s best to discuss your options with me. I can assess the condition of your floor and recommend the best course of action to restore it to its former beauty.
